Enterprise Visual eCommerce for PUMA

In order to grow, you need to improve. To make sure more prospects convert into customers. An essential part of this is a clear product presentation: make it as easy as possible for customers to visualize a product. In fact, ensure that they "experience" the product. Ideally, as tangible and personalized as possible.

However, to offer an excellent online product experience, all systems must be in place, connect with each other, and above all: reinforce each other. This goes beyond just displaying a 3D configuration of your product. This is about a complete platform, where from lead to conversion, everything connects seamlessly. A platform that addresses all target audiences simultaneously. A platform that is easy to manage.

Challenge PUMA

The One Stop Shop

PUMA aims to increase its share in the global team and fanwear market. This market involves both consumers as retailers and sales representatives designing sportswear for their clubs or teams. Previously, all these different target groups were served through separate applications. This is not practical: maintaining all these separate systems takes a lot of time, implementing changes is slow, and, worse, the systems do not reinforce each other. PUMA also recognized the need for synergy between the systems to facilitate and achieve the intended growth. They sought one platform that serves everything: a One Stop Shop. The solution is Enterprise Visual eCommerce.

From visual language to Visual eCommerce

PUMA is good at what they do; they work with passion. Therefore, they sought a partner with the same mindset and the right expertise. PUMA is a brand where visual experience, also known as visual language, is of great importance. The move towards Visual eCommerce was therefore a logical step.

Collective thinking

Complete outfit-flow

Broadly speaking, PUMA knew what they needed. Together we translated this into the correct design and extension of Visual eCommerce. So, developing the platform went hand-in-hand with the customer: PUMA's wishes with our expertise. We think along and advise, to ensure that we achieve te best results together.

An example of this is realizing the optimal user journeyin putting together a complete PUMA outfit. It is now possible to design a combination of products. In Puma's case: a jersey and a short. This “outfit-flow is, in terms of UX and design, aimed at making it as easy as possible to design, load, save and share complete outfits or product lines. This way, more products are sold.

What is Enterprise Visual eCommerce?

Enterprise Visual eCommerce is a “headless” – and therefore lightning-fast - platform. This, combined with a solid user experience, results in higher conversion rates. Additionally, the platform offers extensive capabilities for personalization and data integration. Below, various functionalities of the platform are briefly explained, along with their specific application for PUMA.

Enterprise Visual eCommerce

3D-configurator

The configurator we developed allows the customer to easily customize the product themselves. The selected product options are immediately visually displayed in a 3D model, which can be admired from all angles.

As a result, PUMA can visually display the colors, logos, patterns, numbers, and names chosen by the customers. The designed jerseys and shorts can be viewed from all angles. In this way, the online product becomes almost tangible for the customer.

Business Manager

The business manager enables the configuration of the optimal product. Based on your business rules, certain presets or product properties are loaded. Additionally, certain configuration options can be shown or hidden. This allows the user experience to be personalized for each customer segment.

By integrating business rules into the 3D model, certain product properties can be shown or hidden for a specific customer. For example, PUMA can make extra shirt designs available for sales representatives or offer retailers a special discount. The complete pricing structure per market can also be set.

Webshop & website beheer

To manage the webshop, Magento Commerce is used. WordPress is linked to the platform for website management.

The platform is designed in such a way that the PUMA Kit Factory can display certain information or product properties based on geographical data from around the world, enabling global selling. For example, it is possible to display a different front-end for each country or show different currencies. Additionally, the platform seamlessly integrates with the production process. In the background, information is stored in a way that allows the factory easy access to logos, vector files, or other product specifications. So, the platform is not only user-friendly for the customer but also for the seller!

Tech-talk: front-end

The front-end of the platform is what end-users actually see. It's the "front" of the platform. The front-end of Enterprise Visual eCommerce is built in React as a PWA (Progressive Web App). React is a modern and fast technology. Among other things, it ensures that the site does not jump around when a new page is loaded. It's also possible to refresh only parts of the pages. This promotes user-friendliness and conveys quality to the end-user.

Tech-talk: connecting data and third-party systems

The PUMA Kit Factory is an application of Enterprise Visual eCommerce that we as Proud Nerds are very proud of. But Enterprise Visual eCommerce is more than just the PUMA Kit Factory. Thanks to our self-developed API gateway, the platform is prepared for the future. The API offers extensive possibilities for linking third-party systems and integrating (business) data. Think of marketing communication systems or your own CMS and ERP: the possibilities are endless!
